Still No Snow!

You haven’t heard from me in a while. That does not mean I haven’t been busy. We went to Canada for some skiing. Dad made lots of pork pies for the ride.

And, we picked up a ‘Christmas tree’ at the Home Depot a few miles from the border.

The place we stayed was awesome.

We had amazing views and were a stone’s throw from the gondola.

We started each day with some alpine

and then finished up with some Nordic

One evening, this was not enough, so we did some tubing to finish things up.

While I enjoyed the hot tub on the deck, I believe The Bigs NEEDED it.

I had my annual poutine, of course.

Our gifts all fit around our ‘tree’,

and we enjoyed roast leg of lamb and salad for Christmas dinner.

As usual, it was wonderful.

Now we are home and there is NO SNOW. See:

We did some cross country skiing and made it out for two downhill days. One with Jameson.

Afterwards we spent hours outside up to no good.

On New Years morning we did the annual relay (costumes required) in the RAIN. Not too many folks showed up.

Dad started us off – gaining the lead almost immediately.

The Mother managed to only be passed by two people. And then I took charge.

Winning the family division soundly.

I hosted my most impressive bar yet for New Years.

I offered non-alcoholic and alcoholic options.

Including a bar trick gin and tonic. It starts out blue.

But, when you add an acid (lime), it turns purple!

We enjoyed tapas that included salmon caviar and pate and lots of different kinds of homemade crackers. I really liked the pate. The texture of the caviar was a no go for me.

I also made The Bigs dinner. At first they were worried.

But, the black bean burgers turned out delicious.

On Friday and Saturday there was no way we could ski. It was raining. Conditions were awful. It was a mess. So, I went go-kart driving.

Thankfully, on Saturday night the mountain received 6 inches of snow. We skipped the lifts and the busy runs and did a few runs on the cone using our skins.

Made me hungry right away with the pork pies. May not have been a lot of snow but it looks like you made the most of what got. Nice job on the family relay race.

Wow!! What a great vacation and such a nice place. You stayed at. Loved all the food pictures especially the lamb and the pork pies and bean burgers.
You got a lot of skiing in in some form and I’m by sure the kart driving was a fun time. You’re getting braver.
