The mans did a lot of work this week (we are not sure what mom did though, more on this in a bit). Scary ghost making:

We celebrated Oktoberfest when it should be celebrated. October. Dad made pretzels.

We dipped them in smoked gouda and beer cheese dip.


Then we had brats, sauerkraut, and German beer.

Then the Bigs had the German chocolate cake Dad made. I had a peanut butter cup. I don't like the coconut frosting.

Dad and I also finished my new headboard.

We made it out of leftover flooring. Pretty clever, right?

I love it!

We did bike/hike on the Deschutes.


Then Mom helped me carve a pumpkin. Oh, look she is doing something.




The only reason Mom helped me carve the pumpkins was because Dad was busy making my Halloween costume. Teaser pic:

Mom claims she is busy cleaning up messes I make.

I don't think so. I noticed a lot of gnome pictures on her camera this week.

Cuban Kitchen for some dominoes:

ropa vieja and yucca fries,

and puerco asado with maduros.

My new ski pants arrived. They look to me like firefighting overalls, so they are doing double duty.

Did I mention that I am excited for ski season?

This was quite a week for accident reports from the Growing Tree. First there was the nap time bruises above my right eye.

Then there was the bruised right cheek and black eye from a run in with Goose. Ms. Kenzie said I was tough.

Mom had to go to Baltimore for a meeting. She ate well. One night she got tonkotsu shoyu at a ramen shop.

And another night was pork tacos.

While mom was gallivanting, Dad and I got down to business. Big boy bed business.

We also watched a movie. 'It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown' was pretty cool. I really liked Snoopy and laughed when Lucy would yell at Linus.


I'm bruised and battered but it was a good week.

I have a cold. This has not affected my appetite or energy level. I really love the chocolate chip cookies at Jackson's Corner. They sprinkle a bit of salt on the top.

Mom doesn't want to fold the laundry, fine - I'll do it. I don't see what the big deal is.

Dad doesn't want to bottle the kombucha - fine I'll do it.

Don't want to make dinner? Fine I'll do it.

Just so you know - this is going to be spicy.

It is very important to me that I dress like Dad at all times.


It was a big weekend for me. I road my bike to the 'flaming chicken'. We've been talking about it all summer and today was the day.
