Christmas 2011
Merry Christmas! I'm not sure about you, but I love the lights of Christmas. Manitou was all decked out.
A month or two ago we lost a lot of trees on our property. Our big old pine trees were no match for 130 mph wind gusts. I tried to use the down trees for our holiday decorating, so it wasn't a total waste!
We celebrated the holiday in our 'usual' way, skiing, tapas on Christmas Eve, and green chili on Christmas day. On Sunday we skied behind the cabin. I took a bunch of pictures, unfortunately I was unable to capture the snowshoe hare that crossed my path...
Stay tuned. Exciting office makeover blog coming soon!
Memorial Day Bike Ride
Every year around this time we pack up the bikes and head to Fruita and/or Moab. This year we decided against the 5+ hour drive and stayed home. We headed about an hour south to Pueblo to check out their mountain bike trails instead. It was a good decision! The trails were just as good as Fruita and way closer. The trails:
We saw a lot of cacti, a lizard or two, and jet skis:
It's amazing how much plants want to live and will grow just about anywhere, but die in our garden!
And some people pictures. Kyle reading the map that was NOT to scale and a two hour ride ended up lasting 4 or so!
Happy New Year
Been a while since we last posted anything, so here are some pictures and things from the past month or so. Christmas was good. We cut down a nice tree just down the road.
Christmas dinner was an assortment of Costco goodness: goat cheese, smoked salmon, steamed dumplings, crab cakes, shrimp cocktail, and margaritas.
We celebrated New Year's Eve in the traditional Mexitalian way with posole, margaritas, and...
ugly, but delicious, tiramisu
New Year's weekend was cold,
but the snow and the skiing have been good
Our snowblower broke a couple of weeks ago. It's in the shop waiting for parts to arrive, so we've been doing a lot of shoveling. Here's the spot we dug out for the car:
We just got some new skate skis, and have been beating ourselves up at the nordic center lately.
