Pop lets me turn the pages of the book and reads whatever page I land on. He's my kind of guy.
We went to Washington for dinner.
Cornmeal Crusted Calamari. Vietnamese fish caramel, scallions, pickled carrot, sesame seeds:
Kid's box. Grilled shrimp, noodles, and brussel sprouts:
This box is all mine. It is AWESOME!
Blackened Snapper Tacos. Shaved cabbage, pineapple relish, chipotle-lime aioli, cilantro:
Grilled Prime Flat Iron. Cascade Natural prime beef, arugula, pickled cippolini onion, worcestershire, hand-cut fries:
Spaghetti and Meatball Special.
High five for the clean plate club!
Pop took us to Hola! for Mom's birthday.
Chancho a lo Sancho. Braised pork in coca-cola with yams, onions, tomatoes, and peruvian sofrito sauce:
Seco de Pollo. A traditional Peruvian stew made with tender chicken, home fried potatoes, red onion, sweet yams, peas, and aji amarillo chile-cilantro sauce:
Mole Poblano. Chicken breast simmered in a lightly sweet chocolate sauce with a hint of spice. The recipe has been in our family for over 75 years. Served with rice, beans and tortillas.
Mom made me pose for pictures today. Said it was her birthday. So that means she's two, right?
Dad and I took her for dinner at Kebaba. Best part? They had owls on their porch.
Spicy Roast Lamb. House roasted spicy leg of lamb, thinly sliced and served over our hummous with pickled onion. Served with homemade pita.
Roast Lamb with Hummous. House roasted natural leg of lamb, thinly sliced and served over our hummous with pine nuts and tahini sauce. With homemade pita and kebaba salad.
Chicken Shawarma Special.
Kids plate. Tabouleh, pita, falafel, and cucumber:
Great Aunty Cheryl sent an advent calendar. I don't let mom and dad forget to open a door or to let me eat the delicious chocolate, but I prefer to watch the door opening from a distance. Seriously, the thing is terrifying. Mom and Dad think I am super weird. Who is scared of a calendar they ask? Me. Maybe it's a little too much like that scary jack in the box they try to get me to play with.
I do love counting the doors and the chocolates.
